Mandy Joha

founder/Programs Coordinator

Mandy Joha is an artist of the body, of rhythm, of roots. Guatemalan, multidisciplinary, anti-racist, and self-defined as an artist against apartheid, her work is born from the fire of resistance and tenderness as a political weapon.

She began her journey as a DJ in 2008, when she discovered in music a language of transformation and memory. Since then, she has woven her career between art and activism, defending the right to a dignified life for girls and women in Guatemala.

Her practice is also medicine: the fruit of years of research in movement, sound, and alternative therapies, she has created methodologies that manifest in Ecstatic Dance sessions, meditation for children, and spaces for collective healing that flourish in the work of La Colectiva Niñas de Guatemala, an organization she founded as a platform for art, memory, and community action.

She is currently pursuing a Flex Master’s in Music Production at DJP Music School, delving into new sound tools to continue co-creating from the margins and expanding her artistic and political vision through music, words, and the body.

Mandy Joha transforms, shakes, and sows through art to transform and contribute to a more just and equitable society.
